Embark on a journey beneath the picturesque town of Zyrardów, Poland, where the groundbreaking drilling of a 3-kilometer geothermal well has commenced
This ambitious project, named "Construction of an exploration and appraisal well for thermal waters Zyrardów GT-1," is set to revolutionize the town's heating network.
As the drilling delves vertically into the Earth's depths, reaching an anticipated 3-kilometer depth with water temperatures soaring to 70 °C, the town braces for a transformative three-month endeavor. The visionary initiative is fueled by a PLN 19.8-million subsidy from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, signaling a pivotal moment in the first round of the "Making thermal waters available in Poland" program.
The inauguration, held on January 16, 2024, marked a historic milestone for Zyrardów, attended by Lucjan Krzysztof Chrzanowski, the town's Mayor. With great anticipation, Mayor Chrzanowski expressed, “This historic moment... opens up a chance for Zyrardów to be among the pioneering cities using geothermal technology.”
Guided by the expertise of municipal company PEC Zyrardów and executed by the selected drilling contractor, EXALO, this venture aims to unlock the potential of geothermal energy. Should the drilling and well testing yield positive results, the GT-1 well promises to supply thermal waters to the municipal heating network and even serve recreational purposes, offering a dual benefit to the community.
Zyrardów joins the burgeoning landscape of geothermal development in Poland, fueled by government funding that has ignited similar projects in Krakow, Sochachzew, and Otwock. The town stands at the forefront of an eco-friendly future, where geothermal innovation becomes a beacon of sustainable progress.
