Unlocking America’s Hidden Power: Congressman Fulcher’s Bold Push for Geothermal Energy and Lower Energy Costs

Congressman Russ Fulcher Introduces Landmark Bill to Unlock Geothermal Energy and Lower Costs Across the U.S. By:  Robert Buluma WASHINGTON, D.C., November 25, 2025 – U.S. Congressman Russ Fulcher (Idaho-01) has reintroduced a pivotal piece of legislation designed to accelerate geothermal energy development in the United States. The bill, H.R. 5576 – the Enhancing Geothermal Production on Federal Lands Act, aims to streamline the permitting and exploration process for geothermal projects, placing geothermal energy on par with oil and gas exploration on public lands. As energy demand in the United States surges, driven by rapid technological advancements, including artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, and high-capacity data centers, the need for reliable and clean baseload energy has never been more critical. Geothermal energy, a stable and renewable resource, offers a significant solution, yet its development has long been hampered by federal regulations and lengthy permitti...

Geothermal Exploration Planned in Ayvacık, Türkiye – Doğal Hayat Project

Doğal Hayat Geothermal plans to drill an exploration well in Yeşilyurt, Ayvacık, Türkiye, to assess local geothermal potential for sustainable agriculture and tourism. By: Robert Buluma The project’s main goal is to evaluate the local geothermal potential and explore sustainable uses for agriculture and tourism. The plan includes drilling an exploration well (YO‑01) on parcel 160, block 7, within the company’s geothermal licence area (access number 3248844). The site spans roughly 9,000 m² of privately owned land, strategically chosen for its geothermal potential. Because the land is classified as an olive grove, all operations will comply with Turkey’s Olive Tree Law (No. 3573) and Soil Protection and Land Use Law (No. 5403). The regulatory authority has determined that a full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA/ÇED) is not required at this stage. If geothermal resources are confirmed, Doğal Hayat Geothermal plans to develop tourism and agricultural applications, including thermal to...

GDC Partners With EGENCO In Malawi's Geothermal Exploration

GDC Partners with EGENCO to Unveil Malawi's Geothermal Potential: A New Era in Energy Exploration By: Robert Buluma In a significant move towards diversifying Malawi's energy portfolio, the Geothermal Development Company (GDC) has joined forces with the Electricity Generation Company of Malawi (EGENCO) to explore the untapped geothermal resources within the Rift Valley. This partnership marks a pivotal moment in the country's energy landscape, bringing with it the promise of a sustainable and reliable power source derived from the earth's natural heat. Malawi's geothermal potential has long been hinted at by the presence of hot springs scattered throughout the Rift Valley, with temperatures ranging from 35 to 75 degrees Celsius. These natural indicators of geothermal activity have piqued the interest of energy experts and scientists, but it wasn't until 2023 that concrete steps were taken towards harnessing this potential. Now, under the guidance of Dr. Maxon Ch...

Geothermal Partnership to Secure Taiwans Future

Geothermal Partnership to Secure Taiwan's Energy Future By  Robert Buluma In a move towards securing Taiwan's sustainable energy future, a groundbreaking collaboration has been forged between GNS Science of New Zealand, Taiwan's Geological Survey and Mining Management Agency (GSMMA), and National Cheng Kung University. This partnership aims to harness the power of geothermal energy, aligning with the shared vision of both nations for renewable energy and emissions reduction. Taiwan and New Zealand share more than just geological similarities; they also have parallel trajectories in transitioning towards renewable energy sources. Recognizing the critical role of geothermal power in the energy mix, this collaboration seeks to unlock the untapped potential lying beneath both nations' landscapes. On February 22, 2024, GNS and National Cheng Kung University held an academic seminar and cooperation discussion to solidify their commitment through a Memorandum of Understanding ...
