This approach has not only accelerated the discovery process but also significantly reduced the costs associated with geothermal development.

The Northern Nevada Discovery

The recent discovery in northern Nevada is particularly noteworthy. Utilizing AI-driven analysis, Zanskar pinpointed a promising drilling site at an undeveloped location. Subsequent drilling confirmed the presence of a substantial geothermal reservoir, positioning the site to become a 20-megawatt power plant by 2028. According to Zanskar's co-founder and CEO, Carl Hoiland, this discovery represents one of the biggest confirmed resources in geothermal in the last 10 years.

Building on Past Success

This achievement builds upon Zanskar's earlier success at the Lightning Dock Geothermal field in New Mexico. In 2024, the company revitalized an underperforming geothermal site by applying its AI-driven exploration methods, resulting in what is now considered the most productive pumped geothermal well in the U.S.
