Indonesia’s First 50:50 Geothermal Joint Venture Takes Shape — PT Daya Mas Bumi Sentosa Officially Launched
This follows the signing ceremony held in August, marking the official wrap-up of one of the most anticipated geothermal partnerships in the region. The new company, PT Daya Mas Bumi Sentosa, represents the first-ever 50:50 geothermal partnership of its kind in Indonesia — a perfect balance of local expertise and international technical excellence.
A Powerful Collaboration for a Sustainable Future
The newly formed entity will spearhead the exploration and development of six geothermal prospects across Indonesia, with a combined development capacity of 440 megawatts (MW). This strategic partnership aims to accelerate the nation’s shift toward clean and sustainable energy sources, while bolstering Indonesia’s energy independence.
“This partnership reinforces the Government of Indonesia’s commitment to expanding renewable energy adoption and strengthens the nation’s energy independence through clean, reliable geothermal power,” the statement reads.
Harnessing Global and Local Expertise
The collaboration brings together the extensive experience of the Sinar Mas Group in energy development and EDC’s world-class geothermal technical expertise, setting a new benchmark for geothermal project execution in Indonesia.
While the journey ahead may present challenges, both partners are optimistic. With shared commitment, advanced technical capabilities, and a unified vision, PT Daya Mas Bumi Sentosa stands ready to deliver transformative results for Indonesia’s renewable energy landscape.
A Step Toward Energy Resilience
Indonesia, known for its vast geothermal potential, continues to attract global attention as it scales up renewable power generation. The establishment of PT Daya Mas Bumi Sentosa is not only a milestone for both companies but also a significant boost to the country’s long-term energy resilience and sustainability goals.
A big congratulations to all teams involved in making this milestone a reality — a true testament to collaboration, innovation, and a shared vision for a greener Indonesia.
