The drilling for the project in Neuruppin will be carried out by Daldrup & Söhne, a specialist in drilling technology and geothermal solutions based in Unterhaching. According to Daldrup & Söhne, the project's volume is approximately five million euros. The companies anticipate a temperature of around 70°C at the depth of the drilling. To feed this energy into the district heating network, high-temperature heat pumps will elevate it to the desired level. The aim is for the municipal utilities to generate a heat quantity of 76 GWh per year, equivalent to supplying approximately 3,000 average four-person households. The geothermal drilling in Neuruppin is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2024, as reported by Daldrup & Söhne.
